    This past week, I crossed the milestone of one year in business. To everyone who has made this possible, I sincerely thank you.

    Of the most important lessons, I have learned how easy it is to differentiate myself. I've stepped into an industry where most cling to the latest fad or imitate the 'it' boy or girl by attending their workshop. I won't be surprised when they start their own product line, it'll just confirm my suspicion of the seemingly multi-level marketing behavior. The easiest way to stand out has been to be myself, a designer.

    Flash template websites, commercial action sets, and batch album 'design' are just a few of the industry norms that don't hold up to my standards. I propose a different mindset, believing a client deserves a one-of-a-kind designer album holding spreads of imagery that speak in the client's style. That is, 'style' in the borrowed sense, as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary, 'a writer's mode of expression considered in regard to clearness, effectiveness, beauty and the like.'

    So here's to the next year of offering something no one else can, the story of you.

    This morning we're up early and off to sunny Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! Royal and I are excited to be leaving the country for the first time together. We are even more thrilled to be photographing a wonderful couple and their wedding this Saturday. Now, almost packed and passports waiting to be stamped, we're freshening up on our Spanish and feeling confident knowing many food translations;)
